Bilbao opens the 12th edition of OPEN Portfolio, the international meeting of emerging printmaking
- Sala Rekalde hosts 14 artists from different countries and regions

This morning, at 12:30 pm, Sala Rekalde hosted the official opening ceremony of the 12th edition of OPEN Portfolio, the international meeting of emerging printmaking promoted by FIG Bilbao.
Institutions leading cultural support
The event featured the participation of Iñaki Alonso Gorostiza (President of FIG Bilbao), Itziar Urtasun (Bilbao City Councillor for Cooperation, Coexistence and Festivals), and Leixuri Arrizabalaga (Deputy for Euskera, Culture and Sport of the Provincial Council of Bizkaia), whose support is essential to consolidate and promote this event within Bilbao’s cultural agenda.
From Sala Rekalde to FIG Bilbao: four places at stake in November
The jury for this edition is made up of Alicia Fernández (Director of Sala Rekalde), Daniel Vega (Director of Exhibitions and Conservation at the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao), Isabel Elorrieta (Cultural Manager, Curator and General Director of Fundación Ankaria), and Javier Riaño (Artist and Director of BilbaoArte). They will select four artists from among the fourteen participants to showcase their work at the next edition of FIG Bilbao, which will take place in November at the Euskalduna Palace.
The works are already installed in the Sala Rekalde spaces, which this afternoon at 5:00 pm will open its doors to the public, marking the beginning of three days of discovery, learning and dialogue around contemporary printmaking.
A meeting place for emerging printmaking
OPEN Portfolio brings together in Bilbao 14 emerging printmaking artists from different countries and regions. Through exhibitions, talks, portfolio reviews and live demonstrations, the event offers a unique opportunity to experience the present and future of contemporary printmaking.
All activities are free and open to the public until full capacity is reached.
