This is how María Meijide describes her experience at OPEN Portfolio. The Galician artist highlights the comprehensive nature of the event: from transporting and setting up the artwork to engaging with an international jury and interacting directly with the public.
“In this sense, the OPEN call is a brilliant initiative and for us, emerging artists, a great support-bridge—without which we might not be able to access a fair of FIG’s scale (or at least not so easily, without a gallery, sponsor, etc),” she emphasizes.
She concludes: “It was a fun event, with a great atmosphere, encounters, celebrations, and fantastic organization—even including an artist fee (unheard of!). Honestly, it’s not to be missed: Sign up!”
