OPEN CASABLANCA 2025 CALL

The OPEN Casablanca jury awards four artists who will exhibit at the next edition of FIG Bilbao

From July 11 to 13, the Sacré-Cœur Cathedral in Casablanca hosted the first edition of OPEN Casablanca, an event that brought together artists, professionals and lovers of contemporary printmaking in a vibrant space for creation, reflection and dialogue.

With a program featuring demonstrations, talks, and portfolio presentations, the event marked a milestone in the international expansion of the OPEN program.

The jury selected four international artists who will travel to Bilbao in November to take part in FIG Bilbao 2025, building a bridge between Africa, Europe, and emerging graphic creation:

  • Anna Elisabeth Salova Draganova (Russia)
  • El Haji Samba-Baba Diedhiou (Senegal)
  • Caroline Le Meur (France)
  • Ilyas Oulkaid (Morocco)

Each artist’s proposal stood out for its strong visual language, conceptual solidity, and experimental use of contemporary techniques. From narrative and identity-based approaches to formal investigations, the works presented in Casablanca offered a broad view of today’s international art scene.

OPEN Casablanca was not only a selection platform but also a space for learning and exchange. Public activities fostered dialogue among local and international artists, students, professionals and citizens interested in printmaking as a means of expression.

The warm reception and high quality of the proposals confirm the importance of continuing to create spaces for visibility and professional development for new voices in printmaking. The next stop on their journey: FIG Bilbao 2025.
