Artist Judith Collell, participant in the 2024 edition of OPEN Portfolio, was one of the six artists selected to exhibit at the International Printmaking and Works on Paper Festival, FIG Bilbao.

“From beginning to end, everything ran smoothly: at OPEN they were always there to lend a hand and you felt truly supported,” the artist tells us.

For Judith, the experience was more than just a fair—it was a space for connection, growth, and professional projection.

“I met many people in my field, strengthened my professional network, and I believe it’s a great opportunity to showcase graphic work in Spain—a solid starting point for emerging artists.”

Her printmaking proposal, approached from a contemporary perspective, opened new doors. During FIG Bilbao, her work was recognized with an artist residency at the Basque Biodesign Center.

Throughout the month of June, she will be exploring a line of research at the BDC facilities, asking the following questions: “If we understood the material as human, how would we interpret the process and practices of printmaking? And what if we gave the material life?”
